Hey Peter you are right that the Opti-Brite LED Strip Light # OPT32ER does require its own separate switch. For that you could use really any on/off switch, my suggestion is the Single Rocker Switch # 37212585 and the faceplate # 37212845.

Since you're wanting to be able dim the lights I recommend going with the Smart LED Light Strip w/ App and Wireless IR Remote Control # DIA86QR. This strip light has a 3M adhesive backing to easily mount to the wall of the trailer under the awning. You'll just want to wipe the area down with some rubbing alcohol prior to installing it so that no dirt or debris prevents it from adhering to the wall.

There is actually a short wiring lead on both ends of the strip so you will have what you need to wire both sections. It sounds like that is a factory feature. I'm guessing when it detects the LED strip it acts as though a trailer is connected and disables the back up sensor warning automatically. If you were actually hooked up to a trailer the sensor would go off non-stop because the trailer would be right behind you. You can check with a dealer to see if there is a way to change this but there is no aftermarket solution. view full answer...
The 4-way for your 2022 Ford Maverick, the T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C59DR, does not come with a reverse wire, and unfortunately there isn't a way to get a harness that does have a reverse wire.
For your light strip, you can plug it into the 4-way, but do have to hardwire the reverse light, but this can be made easier with a splice like Quick Splice # SWC501746-1.

While drilling is not required to install the Demco Tabless Base Plate Kit # DM9519336 it will require you to cut out parts of your fascia and you may need to enlarge a hole on either side frame to insert the nut strips that are used to bolt the base plate to the frame.
